Week 7:Cupcakes, Errands & Hair
Cup cakes
This week has been busy, I’ve been multi-tasking a lot and trying to be an adult. I had a taste for cupcakes for 5 days last week and I finally leaned into the craving. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the cupcakes I wanted but the idea of cake and frosting was enough. I’m proud of myself for not buying a full cake and eating it by myself. I know shark week is near.
Errands
I knew I needed to get my car inspected this month, thinking I had until the end of the month, I discovered I had been driving around illegal. That sticker said good through Jan and not Feb. What was funny was I purposely waited until late Feb to get it done. Normally I get it done the month before or early in the month when it’s due. God is good all the time, because I didn’t get a ticket.
I also went to see my mom and check out my storage. It felt good to see her. We caught up and she gave me girl scout cookies. After catching up with her I dug through my storage unit and remembered how much stuff I had. I also realized I did not think about future self when labeling my moving boxes. “Robe and stuff” are not good labels 5 years later. But I did find my soap bars I made and my lamp. We have light now. Last week our neighbors upstairs flooded their apartment, thus flooding our apartment and the neighbor’s downstairs. Fun times. All the water blew our light bulbs in the ceiling, and we don’t trust the electrical. I think next week I’ll re arrange our house.
Hair
I always wanted micro locs, ever since I discovered they were a thing. I have been planning on doing my own hair for over a year now and I did start the process. I finished the bottom row of my 29 sections. I’m not sure how many braids I’ll have when I’m done but if each section has the same amount, I will have close to 290 braids when I’m done. I originally considered just doing a 2-strand twist for each loc but I didn’t want to have to worry about unraveling. Interlocking wasn’t an option because the process would take me too long. So that left me with the braiding option. From what I have seen from other people’s experience the braid method has results very similar to sister locs.
I thought about having them done by a professional, but the prices ranged from $500-$1200. Which is a lot of money. Also, the last time I had my hair braided “professionally” that woman tried to take my soul through my scalp. Since then, I’ve done my own hair. I am excited to begin my next hair journey. I went natural about 7 years ago and it has been fun but I feel my hair is ready for its next evolution.
That’s all I have for this week; I know I’m a bit behind but this year is going quick. .
Until next time
Ashley
