Oh So Fresh
Hey hey, welcome back. A few days ago I signed up for Hello Fresh one of the many meal kit suppliers out there. I'm not a bad cook, I just don't like waiting for food when I'm starving. Which is every day after work. Those 12 miles of walking makes a girl hungry. I know you're probably thinking why don't I just go to the store and pick up ingredients and make myself some food for the week. The issue with that is, 1) I HATE going to the store. People always rushing with their carts, almost taking off my toes. It's annoying. 2) I never know what I'm in the mood for. My pallet changes too often for me to plan out what I want for dinner. 3) I have a cookie addiction. It's horrible, but I can't not eat them. So to try to curb my cravings, I'm trying to not go to places that have them. Yes, it's trivial and unimportant but this is what I want to do to stop spending over a hundred dollars on snacks I don't need. Just the other day I went to the store for lunch meat, $40 later with all the cookies, cakes and ice cream. I went in there for one thing. That was only $5, clearly I have no self control. So to off set my sugar spending I signed up for Hello Fresh. Now when you first sign up you have the option of how many people you want to feed, basic is 2 servings and family is 4 servings. How many meals you want shipped to your house. You can have 2 meals a week, 3 or 4 meals a week. The 3 to 4 meals a week is a little cheaper and you get more bang for your buck. The meals are chosen by you either through the app or on their website. Each meal has a description of what you will be making, and they send you all the ingredients even the meats. You can skip a week or cancel at any time. You pick your delivery day, even Sundays. And they'll drop it off to you between 8am and 8pm. Ok enough of all the commercial talk so here's how I did.
I choose the Pasta Parmesan to start with, how hard could it be to boil water. With my trusty instruction card I began to cook. Now this meal was supposed to take 30 minutes, I took an hour. After I laid out all the cooking utensils and the ingredients I quickly realized chefs make cutting vegetables look super easy. I'm not a fresh ingredient kinda girl. I was cool with the zucchini, cut that into cute little cubes. Grated the garlic, but when I got to that onion... Now I knew in theory what I had to do, and no this isn't the first time I cut up an onion. But for some reason I could not figure out the best angle to chop it up. After some rough first chops I managed to get in the groove of it.
Over all I will say I had a good time cooking. I love my crock pot because I can just throw everything in it and leave it alone for 8 hours. But I do like having the option of the Hello Fresh meal kit. It's pretty easy to follow, just read the instructions, and take your time. Everything is pretty straight forward. I think I did a pretty good job considering.

This meal severed 2 people, as you can see it's a lot off food. It was quite tasty, I ate a third of the pan and that filled me up pretty quick. The rest will definitely be dinner tomorrow while I cook my next meal.
So if you want to show off for your new boo, learn some new recipes, or just want to get used to being in your own kitchen, Hello Fresh may be what you need in your life.
Until next time,
Didd1y
