Thoughts in My Head
Angela
"And I told that bitch she, Better.Not.Try.Me!"
Angela's student Andre stated, clapping with emphasis. This was his 4th time in her office in 3 months. They weren't even close to winter break. 'Why the hell do I keep coming here?' She thought to herself trying to keep her face neutral while Andre continued his story as to why he put his hands on Jerome.
"No profanity please, Andre" Angela said pinching the bridge of her nose and exhaling. Remembering her student loans which were well over $30,000, her rent, car expenses and other basic living necessities. She snapped back into counselor mode knowing quitting wasn't an option. At least not until she found her a millionaire or the winning power ball numbers.
"I'm just saying Ms. Jones these bit-... fools won't leave me alone. It's like every time I'm in a good space minding my business these trolls want to invade my personal space and talk to me like I'm trash. I've done nothing to them, I go to class, I do my work, I ace all my shit... Sorry. I'm trying to get up out of here Ms. Jones and do better for me. But they can't stand to see someone like me do better then them. It's all jokes and tough talk until they realize they'll catch these hands to the face. And he pushed me first." Andre finished crossing his arms and legs at the same time.
Angela nodded in understanding, everything he said had been the truth. He was constantly bullied by the other boys in his class. He was a straight A student, all his teachers loved him and he was on the varsity volley ball team the year before. You'd think he'd be one of the popular ones. "I understand Andre, we've been in contact with Jerome's parents about the matter, he will be suspended for 7 days. Principal Watson is sending letters home about bullying. I know it's not enough. How are you feeling?"
"Pissed!" Andre spat, "I know it's not your fault Ms. Jones, this place is a raggedy cluster fuck, and I appreciate you allowing me to come in here and vent when it gets to be too much. I know I only have this year to get through then I can get the fuck out of dodge. I've been applying to all the schools on the other side of the country." he said looking out the window, releasing some of the tension in his body. "Thanks again of all the letters of recommendation." He said looking back at her out the corn of his eye with a smirk.
Angela shook her head with a smile, "If I can get you out of here in one piece it'll be a miracle. Do you have to beat them so bad? It's hard enough trying to explain why you shouldn't be suspended as well seeing as Jerome is going home with two black eyes and a bloody nose. I know they start it but could you not finish it soo well?"
"HA! That'll teach that bitch not to mess with me" The bell rang for the next period as Andre got up to collect his things. He strolled towards the door not looking back until he had it half open, "Thanks again Ms. Jones." Angela waved him on, heart swelling from realizing how much he had grown since freshman year. He wasn't a timid little boy anymore.
"Andre always in some mess!!" A girl yelled from down the hallway as the students began to crowd the halls moving to their next class.
"Shut up ho! And mind your Got Damn Business!" He retorted closing the door and heading on to his next class.
"Lord, give me the strength." Angela said digging for an Advil in her purse. Her phone began to buzz on her desk. It was Shani, "Hey girl whats up?" she answered tucking her phone between her ear and shoulder.
"Girl, I just did a lecture on chairs..."
"What?" How the hell did you do that?"
"Listen, it made sense in my head. It was about relationships and I sorta lost my train of thought-"
"Wait, you compared relationships to chairs?" Angela said finally finding her pills and popping two. "How did that go over?"
"Terrible," Shani said with a laugh, "I'll tell you about it later, we still on for lunch?"
"Hell yeah! These folks are driving me crazy. My favorite just whooped this boys ass and I have to act like I don't have a side in the matter."
"Was it self defense?" Shani asked.
"Technically but he did a number on the other boy," Angela said packing up her things to head out to meet Shani for lunch, "I told him to stop winning so well, and let them get a hit in so doesn't look too one sided" she chuckled heading towards the door. She locked her office and strolled towards the side door of West Bank High School to avoid passing the Principal's office. She wasn't on Watson's shit list but she knew he was going to be in a foul mood from the mornings activities. She only hoped Teresa didn't spot her while she tried to escape.
That's all I have for now, it's past my bed time. Hope you guys enjoyed this portion from that other book I'm writing. I really wish I had the time to sit and just write. Thanks again guys,
