Get your Bitch!

I know some of you are looking at the title wondering what happened. Honestly nothing has happened, thank the Lord. I am just tired of dodging loose dogs. They're always girls for some reason.

Secure your dog! Please. 

I don't ask for much while I'm at work. Just clear weather and for dog owners to make sure their dogs can't get out. I've seen front doors wide open like they don't have dogs. Do you know how many times I've skipped over a house because the only thing stopping the dog was a thin screen. You will not get mail from me. This week has been stressful enough for me with the heat being in the triple digits. I work in an oven. It's not fun. But for some reason this week has had me on edge. I don't need additional stress, it's not healthy.

I was delivering mail, like I do, to this one house who's pretty good at keeping the dog inside. They lock the screen door so when she jumps on the door it's not going anywhere. I thought, that was the case this time until that heifer jumped on the door and it opened. Now, I'm not a small person. Running is not my thing. It will be some day, currently it is not. When I tell you I ran up those stairs to slam that door close. Yes, I'm the one running towards the danger, that's another story for another day. What irritated me was when I got the door closed I was face to face with the owner who was on the phone grinning at me and laughing saying she forgot to lock the door. 

So... If this dog had gotten out one of two things would have happened. The first, the dog would have gotten a face full of mace. And she would have been mad at me for macing the dog. The second, if that dog would have bit me they would have had a lawsuit on their hands.

I don't hate dogs. I love dogs, I think they're the sweetest things. I strongly dislike incompetent owners. I had to camp out in my hot truck a few days ago to wait for this group of women to walk past with their dogs. Two of those dogs have an issue with me. I don't know if it's the truck or the uniform but they go crazy. I might be because I'm brown I have no idea. I've watched them turn from happy puppy dogs to aggressive beasts. It's terrifying. I was scared the owner was going to loose control of one of them and I'd have to fight off a dog. Another time I had to legit creep around my truck so the dog wouldn't see me and go all attack monster. The owner just waved as she walked by like what I was doing was normal. You know your dog doesn't like why would bring it close to me?

The other issue I have is when these owners let their dogs out the front of the house when they have a whole fenced in backyard. How does that even make sense to you? I was trapped on a porch for a good ten minutes waiting for this woman to gather her two large dogs she let out to use the bathroom. I wasn't mad at that, I was irritated that she knew her dogs wouldn't listen to her when she tried to call them back. She managed to get one in the house, then she went inside the house as well. Which perplexed me because she had a whole other dog still running around outside. Outside, with me stuck across the street on an porch surrounded by all the vegetation so I can't even see where this animal is. Or get back to the truck for safety. Eventually the dog trots around the yard back in my line of sight, pretending to be ready to go inside only to run away when the owner tries to get her. She finally manages to wrestle the dog in the house and I am over it by then.

All I'm saying is keep your dog secure. Just so I'm safe, I'm delivering your mail, EVERY day. You know I have to come to your house. Some days I enjoy my job, other days I kick myself for not applying to more jobs. Either way, until I get off this career path I need all the pets to be safe and locked up somewhere so they can't get to me.

Thanks guys for reading my rant, it's been on my chest for a while now. I'm sorry for the late update, I'm not cut out for this extreme heat. I did treat myself for prime day though, "it's an investment in my career".
